Gnome Pants dress

I asked my 3 year-old daughter what this is (pointing to the pattern artwork). She answered “tooth!” So I looked up to see what this pattern really is and they are gnome pants!

I used to same Party Dress pattern from April Rhodes, but instead of circle skirt I made gathered skirt. I added invisible zipper on the back. The dress also has full bodice lining.

When I decided that I want to sew clothes for myself as well as clothes for my daughter, I searched around and I found this pattern that I really like. The pattern is The Riding Peplum and Party Dress by April Rhodes. The instructions are very clear with lots of pictures which made it very easy to follow. It was my first time sewing with the biased tape. Personally, I preferred a full bodice lining because the gathered waist seam is enclosed in the lining.

I love the print on this fabric. I used this pattern (my go-to pattern for my daughter’s dress and tunic). This time I chose to make a dress and decided to add the pockets. It took me a while to figure out how to do the pockets but I did it. There are many tutorials online. I found this tutorial to be very helpful.

Speckled Tunic

I originally wanted to make a cropped top for myself using this free pattern. However, it didn’t turn out the way I wanted. The length of the top was just too short. So I added the bottom part and turned it into a tunic.
